Warning signs your digital marketing needs a revamp

Creating a Digital Marketing Strategy can be tough and can involve an investment of both time and money. But how can you be sure that your efforts aren’t in vain?

Having a stale, inefficient digital strategy can make a huge amount of difference to your business, so here is our lists of signs that you might be in need of a digital marketing revamp.

No growth

If your social media growth has lulled in the past few months then it could be a sign that you need to shake up your strategy. It could be that you’re not delivering engaging content, or your audiences are too specific. Take a step back and think about your target market, then think about if your campaigns have been too closely focused on one segment, or vice versa if you've been trying to attract too broad a group.

Lots of impressions no clicks

Your content has reached the screens of lots of people but they're not interested. Ideally you want to be delivering content that will stop your potential customers from scrolling. Have a think about what your demographic want to see on their screens, for example if you're selling life insurance, posting memes might go over the heads of your target market. Maybe take a look at successful campaigns from similar companies for inspiration. It's better to post less frequent, engaging content than overload your audience with sub-par content.

Engagement but no sale

If you're seeing activity on your social media channels but these aren't being converted into leads then there might be a few problems.

  • Not knowing your audience. One problem may be that you're creating very engaging content, but it's not relevant to your potential customers. It might be that you've misidentified who your customer base is. Have a look at what demographics your customer base already has and then think of ways to tailor different campaigns to those different sub groups. Keep your audience in mind but make sure that any content posted is relevant to your brand’s story.
  • Too many landing pages. So you've driven potential customers from social media to your website, but they're not sticking around long enough to convert this into a sale. This might be because there are too many steps between your potential customer and your sale. Keep to the 3-click rule - anyone should be able to find the information they’re looking for within 3 clicks.

Blending into the crowd

If you're looking at your competitors and you just see the same content but done better, you might want to rethink your strategy. It's good to keep on track with trends in your business field but being on trend and following the herd are different things. Make sure your brand has its own unique voice, take inspiration but not ideas.
